Deep Clean or Regular Clean? How to Tell Which One You Need

People ask us this more than anything else: do I need a deep clean, or will a regular clean do? The honest answer is that they're two different jobs, and which one you need depends less on how dirty the place looks today than on where it's starting from.

A regular clean is maintenance. It assumes the space is already at a standard and keeps it there — floors vacuumed and mopped, surfaces dusted, kitchen and bathrooms wiped down, the same checklist every visit. It's quick precisely because nothing has been allowed to build up. Booked on a schedule, it's the cheapest way to keep a home or office looking after itself.

A deep clean is a reset. It goes after everything routine cleaning steps past: baseboards, the corners and edges where walls meet, door frames and handles, the tops of things nobody looks at, and inside and behind furniture and appliances. It takes considerably longer, and it's priced for that, because it's undoing months of accumulation rather than a week of it.

Here's the rule of thumb we give people. If the space has been cleaned regularly and just needs keeping up, book the regular clean. If it's been a while, or you've just moved in, or you're coming off a renovation, or you look at the baseboards and wince — start with a deep clean and put a regular schedule behind it.

That combination is what works best for most homes. The deep clean sets the standard, the regular visits hold it, and you never pay deep-clean prices twice. Trying to hold a standard that was never set is where people get frustrated; trying to deep-clean your way out of a problem that a fortnightly visit would have prevented is where they overpay.
